What would RTH do?

That is the question.

If I were in a highschool yearbook, they would vote me most likely to die of a lynch mob. That does not prevent me from opening my mouth and serving a warm hearty cup of STFU to people who deserve it. My dark scathing humor will leave no matter of existence untouched. My innocence will touch your soul.

Welcome to a warped world turned inside out and upside down. All sorts of discretion advised.

Sarcasm and a gun!

"Sarcasm and a gun!" - thats my tag line. The theme that I have chosen to build my personality and this blog on. Although I'm recognizable as a sarcastic person, I've never really explained where this tag line came from. It comes straight from one of my all time favorite comedies "Miss Congeniality". Sandra Bullock plays a tomboyish, tough, sarcastic, fast talking FBI agent Gracie Hart. Her character is delightfully brash and crude. One quote from the movie that stuck with me is when Michael Caine's character Victor Melling tells her "In place of friends and relationships, you have sarcasm and a gun". I'm not sure if I have friends and relationships, nor am I sure how important they are. However, I keep my sarcasm and a gun handy.

The Sarcasm: Many people wonder what is sarcasm. By definition it is sharp, scathing remarks. It is usually used to mock, taunt or insult. However, the great Russian Fyodor Dostoevsky defined sarcasm as "the last refuge of modest and chaste-souled people when the privacy of their soul is coarsely and intrusively invaded". There has never been a truer more accurate definition of sarcasm. The world that we live in is coarse, there is a lot of negativity and evil. Most people fall prey to the daily grind of the world, easily folding into its schisms and great divides. It is only the rare few who actually have modest and chaste souls, souls that are truly innocent. The world is always coarsely intruding and invading these souls. These souls have no option but to engage in bitter rhetoric, point out absurdities and ironies, sardonically roll an eye and cut through the ways of the world with scathing sarcasm. Indeed sarcasm is perhaps the most beautiful, noble and intellectual form of rhetoric.

The Gun: Its not literally a gun. Its a figurative gun. The American constitution gives us the right to bear arms. I'm sorry though, these are the only arms I need to bear - my sarcasm, my wit, my attitude, my personality and I'm not afraid of pulling the triggers. I believe in a no holds barred approach where I simply shoot point blank. I'm a frank and blunt speaker, and say it like is. I'm not afraid of being killed by a lynch mob - I'll keep shooting my verbal, textual bullets. Thats the gun, the arms I bear, and I find it more powerful than any other lethal weapon. My gun does not take lives, but can sometimes make a difference.
